Today every business large and smalls struggles to work against the economic tide. Some of us try to do more than that, some of us strive to build brands, identities and stand out in the mass of material and media that proliferates the web today.
With all the tools and products out there you would think there would be less work for designers... In fact there is more, as clients first try to build their own sites and struggle with the learning curve, and the cookie cutter template they chose because it was close enough to what they wanted for their site. So many companies end up looking just like the all the others.
For the smaller company or the company in a rush to launch their web site they forget about who they are and how someone will remember them. Your logo is the most important thing your company needs it's own identity. It's the first thing people see and it should say as much about your company as possible. A pretty font is not a logo. The letter that your business name begins with is not a logo just because you put it in a shape and sit it on top of your companies name.
Logo and Identity Development is one of my great passions. From my first class in college and later working in the design field I fell in love with the whole process and science behind the concept of Branding.
